Things Brides Wish They’d Done
It can be the happiest day of your life, but many brides will tell you if they could go back, they would change a few things. We’ve compiled the Top 10 Things Brides Wish They’d Done. Of course, everything on this list won’t apply to everyone, but hopefully it gives you a little food for thought before your big day.
1) Slow Down, Take Your Time
So much planning and effort goes into your wedding day. Make sure you take a moment to step back, breathe, and enjoy it. Don’t let it rush you by in a blur.
2) Create a Gift Register
It can seem a bit selfish, but as I heard a friend remark, “Who needs 36 wine glasses?” A gift register ensures you get something useful that you and your fiancé can use to start your life together.
3) DJ or Band?
Lots of brides wish they’d hired a DJ instead of a band and vice versa. Also, if the price seems too good to be true, there might be a reason for that. Many brides wish they had spent a little more money getting a DJ or band that was slightly more professional.
4) Be Comfortable
Many brides agonised over which shoes to choose, and were in agony the entire day. We’ve heard stories of brides smiling through the pain while massive blisters grew on their feet. Of course you should choose a pair that looks amazing, just make sure they’re comfortable too.
5) The Celebrant
They play a central role in your wedding. Make sure you choose someone you both like, and who spends a little time getting to know the both of you. Many brides would have preferred some little personal touches to the wedding ceremony, and not felt like theirs was a “cookie-cutter service.”
6) The Wedding Party
Make sure you have bridesmaids and groomsmen who actually want to be involved. If they’re acting like they’re not bothered about your big day, don’t feel like you’re stuck with them. Choose the people you want and who actually want to be there.
7) A Dress Fitting
Not everyone can afford a custom made wedding dress. But when looking at photos and videos, many brides wish they’d visited a seamstress so their dress fit just a little bit better.
8) The Guest List
It’s your day, so enjoy it. Many brides wish they had invited the people most important to them, and not “Uncle Joe whom we haven’t spoken to in ten years, but have to invite because he’s married to so-and-so…” Choose the people you really want to share one of the most important days of your life with.
9) The Photographer
Some brides wish they’d hired a professional, instead of asking a well-meaning relative with a nice camera. Others wished they’d paid a little extra to get a professional photographer with more experience. But most brides wish they’d paid to have their photographer stay longer and take more, high-quality photos.
10) A Wedding Video
The most common thing brides wish they’d done was hire a professional wedding videographer. People love the photos of their special day, but a wedding video can record parts of the ceremony, speeches, and the first dance better than photos ever could.
Clearly there is no such thing as a wedding day that is 100% perfect, where there is nothing you’d like to change in future. What does matter, is capturing those magical moments and focusing on them, rather than wishing you could do the whole day over again. Pure Elegance can preserve those special moments from your wedding day with a uniquely customised video. For more information or to make a booking, call us on 03 967 4267.
